About Kelly Kettle Scout Stainless Steel
The Kelly Kettle Scout stainless steel camp kettle boils approximately 41 oz of water at a time – that’s about seven 6 oz. mugs of water for camp coffee, tea or hot cocoa. The medium size Kelly Kettle will bring water to a boil within a matter of minutes. Suitable for couples, scouts, small families or groups, base camping, kayaking, fishing, hunting, picnics, car camping. The kettles are ideal for emergency preparedness kits, humanitarian aid stations, or anyone working in the forests or the great outdoors.
Fire base and drawstring carrying bag are included with each Kelly Kettle. The durable stainless steel fire base inverts up into the bottom of the kettle to make the unit as compact as possible for transport and storage.
The Green Whistle has replaced the Orange stopper on the Kettles and will sound a nice loud whistle to let you know when the water has boiled. Older Kelly Kettles may have an Orange Rubber or Cork Stopper. These MUST ALWAYS be removed before using the kettle. The Kettle must never be boiled with these older stoppers in the spout, but the new camping kettle with whistle can be left in while the water is boiling.
Best Camping Kettle in Bad Weather
All Kelly Kettle products are the best kettle for camping as they work extremely well in all weather conditions. They are a vital piece of camping equipment for any outdoor adventure. Extremely dependable as they have no moving parts to fail or break.
Burn All Natural Fuel
Never pack fuel again and save money. Kelly Kettles are cost free to run and eco-friendly, as they use all natural fuel such as twigs, dry grass, heather, birch bark, pine cones, dry animal dung, etc. Add the Kelly Kettle Pot Support and Cook Set to your gear and prepare small amounts of food like noodles, rice, oatmeal, eggs, and hydrate food over the kettle while your water boils. Boil water and cook food at the same time using only a handful of natural fuel!
Better yet, grab a Kelly Kettle Hobo Stove accessory and turn the fire base of your kettle into a stand-alone wood fueled camping stove. See our Ultimate Kit offerings for best value on Kelly Kettle and all the accessories.
Remember: The Kettle has been designed to boil water extremely fast in all weather conditions using very little fuel. When filled with water, the Kelly Kettle should always be carried upright to avoid any spillage/leakage from the water spout or chimney top.
Kelly Kettle users have described their kettles as the “Greatest Invention of all Time”.

A survivalist best friend. The concept and efficiency of the Kelly Kettle are simple and remarkable. Using only twigs or shavings for fuel and tripling the area exposed to an open flame saves time not only to boil water but the time necessary to gather wood fuel to burn. I don’t know if it was intended in the design but you are able to keep a low fire profile while using it. No big open fire to attract attention. There are three sizes depending on whether you are camping out of a vehicle or backpacking. The stainless steel construction is solid! This will last forever.

Best of both sides: It is ideal for most occasions of outdoor water boiling. In addition to Trekker and Base Camp, Scout model joined my greedy collection of camping equipment. The workmanship is excellent, but I have two suggestions for Scout: 1) Make sure the spot welding is done with slightly higher wattage. The welding indentation is a tad too light; 2) the handle could use thicker gauge wire–it is a little too bendy for the weight of water and metal together; the design and contour of the inner shell hold the most ideal amount of water, given the overall size.My suggestion for Base Camp: Base Camp’s inner shell is a straight wall, cone shape. Scout’s inner shell has a contour that increases the capacity. I am wondering why Kelly chose the straight wall for Base Camp. If the inner shell is modified, a la mode of Scout, the capacity could increase easily to 2L. It will really add to the utility of the Base Camp model. Scout boiled water 10 seconds past the 5-minute mark. It used only a stick of 8-inch 2X2 pine, with plenty of wood left to burn. Inside the chimney, the flames resembled a tornado–it swirled counterclockwise. The green cap whistled cheerfully, and since it was pointing 8 o’clock position, instead of 6, all of the steam and water dripping pointed away from the fire bowl. Compared to Trekker, Scout is definitely enough for 2 persons. I consider Trekker for 1 person; maybe two, if boiling for tea. Base Camp is, as the name implies, suitable for 3-4 persons. Again, I wish Kelly would modify Base Camp’s inner shell, and add the contour found in the Scout model. If I am by myself, I would take Trekker along. With someone else, Scout. With a group, Base Camp. Hey, I am covered for all occasions! If you do not yet own a Kelly, you should consider getting on. Start with Scout, and if it is too big, get Trekker. Too small, get Base Camp. Oh, heck, get all three!

Functional, well made, light enough to portage, easy to light tinder, and the chimney effect works great.

Useful tool. We caravan abroad so when we take driving breaks this allows me to make hot drinks without the hassle of opening the gas bottle.

I’ve used this twice now. Simple, easy to use, and crazy fast. With just a small amount of wood, you can have boiling water in 5 minutes. So fast, so easy. I love it. Take some time to read the instructions and watch a video or two about handling. It is always worth remembering that you are dealing with live fire and hot cooking equipment. Just follow a couple of simple procedures and it is easy as pie to get water boiling in minutes.

This product works great! I even use just the base to cook over an open fire. It’s great for quick cooking and nice hot drinks or soup on chilly occasions. It is lightweight to carry in my backpack and portable to use even at home when the electricity goes out.

An ingenious piece of camping kit. A very clever piece of kit. Worth every penny. Quality made, saves on gas, totally portable, and provides unlimited boiling water. Cannot believe it took us so long to discover this! We now need to buy the pot stand cooking accessory.

Excellent. Brilliant. A wonderful piece of……whatchamacallit; not machinery, not engineering. Ahh, technology, not modern but superb. Works like a wonder. Good fun, too.

Boil a lot of water quickly. This thing works as advertised. Choose the smaller one for individual use but this one for a group if several folks want hot beverages.

Best way to boil water fast! I like the Kelly Kettle Camp stove, and use it to make coffee in the morning when I’m living outside. The water boils fast, and fuel is easily found in the area (small twigs, pine cones, whatever is around). I start the fire with a small amount of newspaper or paper.

Piping hot water when you need it fast. When you’re cold, wet, tired and in the elements, hot water for tea, coffee or cooking is good. But hot water quickly is much, much better. And there’s not much out there that boils water in the field more quickly or efficiently than the Kelly Kettle.

Wherever you go, it’s good. This is an excellent gadget and the beauty of it is you can take it anywhere and use just about anything that will burn to boil water; very environmentally friendly.
